What is DPL Acne Treatment?
DPL (Dynamic Pulsed Light) therapy is a medical-grade treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light to target acne-causing bacteria, reduce inflammation, and regulate oil production. Unlike traditional acne treatments, DPL works deep within the skin to address the root causes of acne while promoting faster healing and improved skin texture.

Benefits of DPL for Acne
✔ Reduces Acne-Causing Bacteria – Kills P. acnes bacteria responsible for breakouts.
✔ Calms Redness & Inflammation – Helps soothe irritated skin and active breakouts.
✔ Regulates Oil Production – Balances sebum levels to prevent future congestion.
✔ Minimises Pore Size – Improves overall skin texture and clarity.
✔ Non-Invasive & Painless – No downtime, making it perfect for busy lifestyles.
✔ Stimulates Skin Healing – Supports collagen production for a healthier complexion.
How It Works
DPL technology delivers targeted high-intensity pulses of light into the deeper layers of the skin. This light energy:
🔹 Destroys acne-causing bacteria.
🔹 Reduces inflammation and redness.
🔹 Targets sebaceous (oil) glands to decrease excess oil production.
🔹 Promotes collagen regeneration for improved skin healing.
Treatments are quick, comfortable, and safe for most skin types. Regular sessions help prevent future breakouts and improve overall skin clarity.
Contraindications – Is DPL Treatment Right for You?
While DPL is safe and effective for many, it may not be suitable for individuals who:
🚫 Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
🚫 Have active skin infections or open wounds in the treatment area.
🚫 Have a history of light-sensitive conditions or are taking photosensitising medications (e.g., Roaccutane, antibiotics).
🚫 Have active skin infections, eczema, or psoriasis in the treatment area.
🚫 Have very dark skin tones (as the treatment may not be as effective).
🚫 Have recently had excessive sun exposure or sunburn.
A consultation with our Dermal Clinician is required to determine your suitability for treatment.

PIGMENTATION
What is DPL Pigmentation Treatment?
DPL (Dynamic Pulsed Light) is an enhanced form of IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) that uses a more precise and controlled light spectrum to effectively target melanin (pigment) in the skin. The energy penetrates deep into the dermis, breaking down pigmentation while stimulating collagen production for improved skin texture and clarity.
Compared to traditional IPL, DPL delivers:
✔ More precise targeting – reducing the risk of damage to surrounding skin.
✔ Better absorption by pigmentation – making it more effective for stubborn spots.
✔ Faster results – fewer sessions may be required for visible improvement.

DPL vs. Picolaser & Other Laser Treatments
While Picolaser and other laser treatments are highly effective for deep pigmentation and tattoo removal, DPL is an excellent choice for treating superficial pigmentation and sun damage with minimal discomfort and downtime.
✔ DPL is gentler – making it suitable for more skin types and lower risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH).
✔ Picolaser is more aggressive – ideal for deep dermal pigmentation and stubborn cases.
✔ DPL offers quicker recovery – with less redness and downtime compared to some laser treatments.
A consultation with our expert Dermal Clinicians will determine which treatment best suits your skin concerns.

Who Can Benefit from DPL Pigmentation Treatment?
DPL is ideal for individuals looking to treat:
✔ Sunspots & Age Spots – caused by prolonged sun exposure.
✔ Freckles – natural pigmentation that has darkened over time.
✔ Uneven Skin Tone – hyperpigmentation and blotchy skin.
✔ Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH) – from past breakouts or skin trauma.
DPL is most effective for fair to medium skin tones and works best on superficial pigmentation rather than deep melasma.

Pre-Treatment Skin Preparation
To ensure the best results, we recommend:
✔ Avoiding sun exposure & tanning for at least 2 weeks before treatment.
✔ Discontinuing retinol, AHAs, BHAs, and active skincare 3–5 days before treatment.
✔ Keeping the skin clean & makeup-free on the day of your session.
✔ Hydrating well before your appointment to promote skin recovery.
What to Expect – During & After Treatment
During the Treatment:
🔹 A cooling gel is applied to the skin for comfort.
🔹 You will wear protective eyewear as the DPL device emits pulses of light.
🔹 The sensation is often described as a warm, mild snapping feeling (similar to a rubber band).
🔹 The procedure is quick (15–30 minutes), with minimal to no discomfort.
After the Treatment:
🔹 Mild redness or warmth is common and usually subsides within a few hours.
🔹 Skin may feel slightly dry or tight; a gentle, hydrating moisturiser is recommended.
🔹 Avoid sun exposure and wear SPF 50+ sunscreen daily.
🔹 Refrain from active skincare (retinol, AHAs, BHAs) for at least 48 hours post-treatment.
🔹 Results are progressive, with noticeable improvement after a few sessions.
For optimal results, we typically recommend a series of 4–6 treatments, spaced 1–2 weeks apart, followed by maintenance sessions as needed.
